Mrs. Martin

Mrs. Martin's Biography

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year!  I am so excited to be your child's  4th grade teacher!  This is my fifth year teaching at George White and my 19th year teaching in the school district. I am so proud to be a George White Knight!!

A little about myself...I am married with two grown sons who have both gone through the Capistrano School District.  I live in Laguna Niguel with my husband and we are now adjusting to the "empty nest syndrome".  My youngest son just graduated from the University of Oregon and both are now living in L.A. and starting their careers.   I am a big football fan since I grew up with 3 brothers and a dad who was a coach.  We are so happy  our LA Rams are back home!

Some of my hobbies include gardening, scrapbooking, going to the theatre ( love musicals), and spending time with my family.  Although I was born and raised here in southern California, I went to college in central California ( Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo) and relocated to the Bay Area in south San Francisco for several years.  This is one of the reasons I love teaching 4th grade since we teach about California history and I am proud to say that I have lived all over this wonderful state.

A few years ago, I went back to school to get my Master's Degree in Educational Technology and I love being able to teach with technology.  All of my students will have their own Chromebook this year and we will be using these on a daily basis.

I am looking forward to a wonderful year  ahead!!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Martin

In addition they must read this story out loud to an adult and get a parent signature.  This assignment will be due on Thursdays.

**Math pages:  correlate with the lesson taught for the day.  No homework will be given on test days or Fridays.

**Science/ Social Studies Homework:  Usually one subject per week or every other week.   Students have access to their Social Studies/Science book online.

All Students should be recording their nightly homework in their "Reminder Binders' .  I always allow time for your student to copy down the homework off of the board everyday.  I do random checks to make sure they are completing this.  If you find they stop writing down their homework, please let me know and we can put them on an individual contract where signatures will be required by myself and parent.
